    Description

    Van Briggle Pottery Leaf Vase, Shape 860, Early Ming Blue
    Pretty two-handled vase with large leaves molded into the body. The glaze appears to be an early version of Ming Blue, with a lighter turquoise at the top, darkening to a medium blue on the body. There is a brown overglaze highlighting the details of the leaves. The "dirty bottom" indicates manufacture from the late teens to early '20s. Lovely piece of earlier Van Briggle.
    Condition:  There is a tiny factory glaze pop on the bottom edge, and a bit of stray clay just inside the rim. No chips, cracks, repairs. Minor crazing, only visible if you look closely.
    Marks:  Incised conjoined A's logo, Van Briggle and a hard-to-read number, possibly 18, which could be date or finisher number.
    Dimensions:  8" high, 4 3/8" wide, 4 1/4" deep.
